It’s Leap Day and today, according to Irish tradition, is the day (only comes once every 4 years) where it is encouraged for gals to get down on one knee and propose to their guys.
According to the legend, St. Brigid of Kildare, a fifth-century Irish nun, had heard enough complaints from single women whose suitors were too shy to propose. So, she spoke to St. Patrick about the problem, and they agreed to let women propose on Leap Day, once every four years.
According to the HuffingtonPost, 10 percent of women are planning to take the plunge and pop the question. BBC says the right of every woman to propose on this day goes back to when the leap year day was not recognized by English law. It was believed that if the day had no legal status, it was acceptable to break with tradition.
What do you think of this tradition?

Lindsay has been working with MaryAnn and Steve to coordinate their Point Loma wedding over the past few months. This couple has so much fun together and you can really tell in their engagement shoot!
Today, the couple will celebrate their love on the grass lawn, overlooking the downtown San Diego skyline with a Catholic ceremony followed by a reception filled with Filipino traditions – including traditional dancers, special cuisine and of course – the money dance! Guests will also experience some fun surprises (we’ll tell you about them when we post their wedding recap).
Thank you to Nate Goins Photography for sharing their engagement photos. Congratulations MaryAnn and Steve!!!
